Ciaran O'Rorke
Ciarán is a partner with over 25 years experience in medical negligence and is Head of Healthcare in the firm. His experience of complex high value claims is probably unparalleled, extending to many of the major brain damaged infant and cerebral palsy cases. He has been involved in landmark decisions of both the High Court and Supreme Court on a variety of issues including informed consent /disclosure or risks, the Statute of Limitations and damages. These cases have been the subject of academic discussion and analysis in legal journals and textbooks. In recent years because of his in-depth knowledge and proven track record, he has advised a number of HSE healthcare professionals and Risk Managers on medico-legal issues including protocols and guidelines, independent reviews, consent, retention of records, record keeping and claims handling. Ciarán also participated in one of the first mediation conferences in a high value clinical negligence claim.
