On Thursday 21st January Hayes solicitors will hold a major seminar on the relationship between the media and Irish society following the passage of the Defamation Act 2009. The seminar will be chaired by Mr. Justice Peter Kelly and among the contributors will be Professor Tom Mitchell, Chairman of the Press Council, Mr. Martin Cullen TD, Minister for Arts, Tourism & Sport, Ms. Geraldine Kennedy, Editor of The Irish Times and John O’Sullivan, journalist with The Irish Times. Andrew O’Rorke and David Phelan of Hayes will recall the history of the reform of our defamation legislation and the likely effect of the new proposals.
