HAYES SOLICITORS ADDRESSES THE INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS OF IRELAND

Hayes solicitors are delighted to be associated with the Diploma in Forensic Accounting run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ireland. The course is designed to provide participants with the core skills and knowledge required to undertake forensic accounting assignments. Solicitors from Hayes lecture students throughout the annual programme on various legal issues. On Saturday 5 September 2009, Matthew Austin, Breda O’Malley and Anne Lyne, spoke to the students on the Irish Courts and legal system, the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) and the role of discovery in Court proceedings. Previously Eugene Davy spoke to the students in relation to family law issues that can arise for a forensic accountant. Davnet O'Driscoll and Laura Fannin attended the advocacy module of the Diploma in Forensic Accounting and acted as Judges in the practical sessions. Three barristers including Joe O'Sullivan BL cross-examined the students. We then gave feedback to the students at the conclusion. Joe O’Malley and David Phelan make regular legal presentations to the students on various topics.
